Dear Residents, We hope this message finds you well. Whilst on patrol officers have observed an increase in people riding bicycles during evenings and early morning hours when visibility is low. Many Cyclists have been seen wearing dark clothing and riding without lights, making it challenging for motorists and other road users to see them. For everyone’s safety, we kindly ask all cyclists to consider the following precautions: Wear reflective gear: bright or reflective clothing significantly improves visibility, helping others spot you from distance.Use Bike Lights: Both front and rear lights are essential for making your bike visible in low light. This is particularly important on darker streets and in areas with limited lighting.Plan safe routes: when possible, stick to well-lit paths and avoid poorly lit or high traffic areas during nighttimeObey traffic signals and signs: Cyclists are required to follow the same rules as vehicles, including stopping at red lights and stop signsSignal your intentions: use hand signals to let other road users know when you’re turning or stoppingRide in the correct lane: Use bike lanes where available, and if riding on the road, stay as close to the left as possible while allow space for parked cars. We urge everyone, cyclists and motorists alike, to stay mindful of each other on the road and help make our community safer. Please share this with families and friends to ensure they are safe on the roads. Thank you for your attention and cooperation. Best Regards James |
