Flintshire North Review

Good Morning Flintshire North β›„

Rota 2 and NPT are with you today, There's been 38 calls for service in the last 24h - 4 of which were P0 🚨 (Attended on Lights & Sirens)

🏑 1 x Domestic Incident
πŸš‘ 0 Concern Incidents
βœ–οΈ 10 x Anti Social Behaviour Incidents

❄️ Almost all of our anti social calls related to youths throwing snowballs when they shouldn't!

πŸš” 3 arrests in last 24 hours, 1 domestic related, 1 prison recall and one assault. 26 incidents have come over for a write up or investigation and seven recorded as crimes so far!

🧐 Nothing we think will cause a community impact overnight. So the information sharing today relates to, Police cars, which will fit with my post later where I'm going to hopefully get all the kit out for a photo - weather permitting!

πŸš“ Who's Driving? PCSO's and Special Constables are permitted to drive police cars as a "standard driver" that means no emergency response. PC's and some special constables must be trained in response driving to utilise "exemptions" this is what allows us to exceed the speed limit to respond to emergencies. For each vehicle available to us - Automatics, 4x4's, Vans and unmarked vehicles, we have to have a ticket and be authorised for that vehicle.

πŸš” What are we Driving? Our response fleet is mainly Peugeot 308 estates, there's still some old astra's hanging around. We now have Peugeot vans aswell, with some old transit's hanging around. Traffic and Armed Policing have "High Powered" vehicles, because they are advanced drivers, which allows them to exceed the speed limit further, you'll see them around in BMW X5's, Volvo's, Audi's and BMW's. Dogs are getting about in Mondeo estates.

πŸš— Why Unmarked? We have some unmarked cars, they're used a lot for appointments where someone doesn't want a police car outside. And they're used for general patrol, we're not actually trying to keep them a secret, they are not covert cars.

😒 Every day we hand over cars from officer to officer, some have a preference and will be very sad if their car is off the road or someone has already taken it - the cars are checked over once a week for all their kit and cleaned. They're serviced regularly by our fleet department - who are insanely busy - as you can imagine these cars very quickly rack up miles and response driving is hard on the car.

🐢As I am obviously the luckiest PC in NWP, I now get dog pictures straight to my inbox. Today, a  special request to post Retired Police Dog, Draco PD1802. He was a firearms support dog and specialist search dog with our Alliance and based in Cheshire. He served from 2018 to 2024 when he retired and a member of police staff has brought him home to put his paws up πŸ’™ Not all dogs can retire to their handler, and we extend our thanks to those who give up their sofa to the hard working police dogs.

I'm off on foot patrol this morning with PCSO Thom who you'll know as the local officer for Shotton and is always seen out and about, he's leaving us soon to start his training as a PC! We'll be in Rivertown for their support hub once we've finished a lap of Shotton 🚢🏼  Have a wonderful day, Stay Safe - 3604.
