Are you at risk of being scammed?

Dear Residents of Sandycroft,

We have received reports of scams taking place in your are and to ensure your safety and well-being, we would like to remind you of some important steps to help protect yourself from scams and cold callers.

  • Be Cautious of Unsolicited Calls and Messages
If you receive a call, email, or letter from someone you don't know, especially asking for personal details, money, or access to your home, hang up immediately or delete the message. Genuine organisations will never pressure you for information or money on the spot.
  • Don't Share Personal Information
Never give out your bank details, passwords, or any personal information over the phone, online, or in person unless you are absolutely sure who you are dealing with. Scammers often pretend to be from trusted organisations like your bank or government.
  • Check the Caller ID
Many scammers try to make their phone numbers look like those of trusted companies. If you're unsure about a call, take a moment to verify the caller's identity using official contact details from your statements or websites.
  • Say 'No' to Unwanted Visitors
If someone visits your home without an appointment or tries to sell you something, you don’t have to let them in. Always ask for identification and feel free to refuse any offer that makes you uncomfortable.
  • Report Suspicious Activity
If you suspect you’ve been contacted by a scammer or have fallen victim to a scam, report it to 101 and Action Fraud. It's important to act quickly to prevent further issues.
  • Your safety is our priority. Stay alert, trust your instincts, and remember, you are not alone—support is available!
