Good Morning Flintshire North!

R1 and NPT are with you today, 73 calls for service in the last 24 hours. 9 of which were P0 ๐Ÿšจ (Attended on Lights & Sirens)

๐Ÿ  5 x Domestic Incidents
๐Ÿš‘ 3 x Concern for Safety Incidents
โœ–๏ธ 6 x Anti Social Behaviour Incidents

๐Ÿš” 3 arrests in the last 24h with one still in for brekkie.. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ 1 for theft from a shop. ๐Ÿง 1 for fraud offences. โœ–๏ธ 1 for domestic assault and controlling & coercive behaviour.

๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿป 43 incidents came over to our system for a write up with 13 recorded as crimes (so far)

๐Ÿง Force Priorities - No hate related incidents or burglaries reported in the last 24, and the 5 domestics as above.

โ‰๏ธSomething we deal with a lot, not just here but nationwide, is domestic violence. To write a little scenario like I have for other offences for something that can be life changing and traumatising I believe would be insensitive. So what's next, for DV offenders who've been arrested - there's a few options;

๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿปโ€โš–๏ธ Most offences will give us 24 hours in custody to deal with you, for very serious offences a Superintendent can extend that custody time and then we can apply to the court for a further extension.  This would be for the most serious offenders where the risk is too high to release, we're not quite there on evidence for a charge - but we can get there in the extended time.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Charge, No bail - For domestic violence, CPS make the charging decision. Where there is high risk and we've met the evidential threshold we'll ask CPS for a charge while the person is in custody via creating a case file and sending it over. If CPS decide to charge the Sergeant can deny bail and put the offender in front of the next court. The Court then make the decision on whether to remand that person to prison between trials / sentencing.

โฒ๏ธ Bail - This will almost always be conditional bail, meaning restrictions can be put in place on the offender to keep the victim safe. They can be bailed for more enquiries where the officer needs to collect more evidence to meet the threshold. Or they can be bailed for the officer to approach CPS slow time for a charging decision.

๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿปโ€โš–๏ธ DVPN -  Domestic Violence Protection Notice. This is a civil order that acts like a temporary restraining order. The offender will have conditions like bail but breaches will have a higher punishment we'll compile our evidence and our legal team will present it to court for a  DVPO which is a 28 day version of the order, breaching this will land the offender in front of the next court and a prison stay. These orders are used when we have no realistic prospect of conviction or not enough evidence or the risk is very high.

โœ–๏ธ NFA - No further action. There is not enough evidence to progress the matter any further and there are no more enquiries, it hasn't reached the threshold or we've got evidence to the contrary of what was reported.

The above is a whistle stop tour of the decisions made in custody and by investigating officers and their supervisors. There's some information, advice and resources regarding domestic abuse available on - https://www.dasunorthwales.co.uk/

๐Ÿถ Today it's PD Koda who flashing a little smile ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ’™
